Getting Organized in Cyber Space

I am spending December and January (egads, 2010?!?) rethinking and redesigning my webspace. One thing is for sure, everything will be HERE.

No LiveJournal, no EBlogger...other than notification of new posts. Eventually I will be deleting both accounts.

I have imported all my posts from here and liverjournal to my wordpress website and that is where I will continue my blogging and cyber life in the New Year!

Summer Reading Club

What fun! Next week will be week three. Now. The BIG PLAN, is to start posting the stories, songs, crafts, books I've been using. Even taking pictures of my craft process. The storytelling, I'm good with. The crafts? Wee bit of a learning curve going on, but ever so glad I'm doing it! They are not as scary as I thought.

Even better, there is a possibility of a Junior Book Club growing out of this. The kids (9-12), who are coming for the Summer Reading Club at the library, love (LOVE) doing round table discussions of books we've read. I've suggested to the library that they could continue into the fall with a book club. If a budget for this is approved, I've been asked if I'd like to facilitate the book club. Um. My answer......yes please!

Summer Reading Club!

I'm a happy reading camper. I will be running the Summer Reading Club at our wee local library. I'm thrilled they hired me to do it. We will be part of the TD Summer Reading Club. Looking forward to spending time with the kids doing some reading, storytelling and activities. Libraries ROCK.

And snacks. There will be snacks.

lovely
munchy, crunchy,
sometimes gooey-
snacks.

Storytelling Residency-Storyworks

Cynthia and I usually spend a week at a school when doing a Literary Arts Residency as Storyworks. May 25 we are spending just one day at a school. It's going to be a compact version of the week long residency we provide.

One and a half hours per group. Small classes, about twelve kids each. A K class, a 1/2 class and a 3/4 class. In that one and a half hours we will provide a short storytelling performance, then move into our Storytellers All workshop. From there we will spring into an activity that will leave each classroom with a story they can share as a group. Typically we would work towards a final showcase over the course of the week, but this time we will leave the students and teachers a script they can use to share their stories from classroom to classroom, in an assembly, or both!

Very excited about doing this!
